Care and Maintenance

Cleaning, gasket care, foam care, cooler care, wheels, handles, latches, drain plugs, and long-term storage.

Overview

Practical guidance

Rugged cases are built to last for years, but service life depends on simple, repeatable maintenance. This guide covers cleaning, gasket care, and the small habits that protect the seal, foam, and hardware over time.

Routine cleaning

Wipe the shell with mild soap and water. Avoid solvents and abrasive cleaners on plastic shells and gaskets. Dry the case fully before closing to prevent trapped moisture.

Gasket care

Inspect the gasket for cracks, cuts, and debris after each demanding trip. Clean with mild soap, dry, and apply a thin film of food-grade silicone conditioner periodically to keep the seal supple.

Foam care

Vacuum foam to remove dust and debris. Spot-clean with mild soap and water; avoid soaking. Replace foam that has compressed, torn, or absorbed chemicals or moisture.

Latches and hardware

Verify latches close firmly and evenly. Check stainless hardware for corrosion after marine or heavy outdoor use. Replacement latches are available for most product lines.

Wheels and handles

Inspect wheels for wear and axle play. Handles should retract and lock cleanly. Replace worn parts before failure — most components are field-serviceable.

Cooler care

Rinse and drain after each use. Clean with mild soap, dry fully, and store with the lid propped slightly open. Inspect the drain plug gasket periodically.

Storage

Store cases in a dry, temperature-stable location out of direct sunlight. Do not stack heavy loads on lids for extended periods.
